Have you found your niche yet? Or are you still trying to figure out what a niche is? I know when I first started out with  Affiliate Opportunities I didn’t have a clue what a niche site was.

Ok, I’m going to take knitting as an example, if you’re not interested in knitting don’t worry, neither am I, but there are a lot of people who are. I’ve just done a search on Google for “how to knit ” and found out there are  8,800,000 results for this term, that’s one hell of a lot of people who want to know how to knit. Don’t get carried away just yet though and decide to write about how to knit, because it’s such a popular market there are also one hell of a lot of people promoting it, and if you are just starting out in this market that means there’s way too much competition.

What you need to do is break it down even further, how about “how to knit toys for children” or “how to knit socks”, much less competition and easier to get a foothold in. If you were to choose one of these markets it would become your niche market.

The definition of a niche market is  a “focused targetable portion (subset) of a market”, so what you need to do is find something you are passionate about (don’t choose knitting if you hate it..you’ll soon get fed up and stop bothering with it).

Make a list of all the things you love doing, it doesn’t matter they are, you can bet your life you aren’t the only one that enjoys these things. Then decide which subject you are going to build a website about.

The Alexa toolbar is a free plug-in that you can easily install onto your browser and use when you surf the Internet. Well over 10 million
surfers use the Alexa browser toolbar, which comes in two versions, one for Internet Explorer and one (called “Sparky”) for Firefox. The
advantages of installing the Alexa toolbar are many, especially if you run an online business.

It has lots of useful features which turn your browser into a tool which gathers data as you surf the net.
Alexa’s toolbar gives you a faster surfing experience because includes an integrated Google search feature which allows you to search Google by typing your search phrase directly into the toolbar.

Whenever you land on a website you will be able to see at once the site’s Alexa Traffic Rank listed in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. You will also be able to see a line that shows the traffic for the website over the last few months and next to that is an “Internet
Reach” meter that gives you a percentage of surfers that have visited the site.

There is also a related links button, this can find websites for you to research quickly and easily and yet another feature is the tell a friend button, useful when you see something on a particlar site you want your friends to know about.

The toolbar also has a built in link to Amazon.com (which now owns Alexa) which makes your online shopping even easier! As you can see the advantages to installing the Alexa Toolbar are many, I certainly wouln’t be without it now.
