Have you found your niche yet? Or are you still trying to figure out what a niche is? I know when I first started out with Affiliate Opportunities I didn’t have a clue what a niche site was.
Ok, I’m going to take knitting as an example, if you’re not interested in knitting don’t worry, neither am I, but there are a lot of people who are. I’ve just done a search on Google for “how to knit ” and found out there are 8,800,000 results for this term, that’s one hell of a lot of people who want to know how to knit. Don’t get carried away just yet though and decide to write about how to knit, because it’s such a popular market there are also one hell of a lot of people promoting it, and if you are just starting out in this market that means there’s way too much competition.
What you need to do is break it down even further, how about “how to knit toys for children” or “how to knit socks”, much less competition and easier to get a foothold in. If you were to choose one of these markets it would become your niche market.
The definition of a niche market is a “focused targetable portion (subset) of a market”, so what you need to do is find something you are passionate about (don’t choose knitting if you hate it..you’ll soon get fed up and stop bothering with it).
Make a list of all the things you love doing, it doesn’t matter they are, you can bet your life you aren’t the only one that enjoys these things. Then decide which subject you are going to build a website about.
If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you’ll know there is plenty of help for you to get started marketing your niche website on here, if you would like to learn even more from a group of experts and get a niche website set up then I suggest you check out the Niche Power Group. Everything you could wish to learn about niche marketing can be found in the NPG and there are plenty of free resources too.
So have you found your niche yet? If so that’s great! Are you making any money with your niche website yet, if you are that’s brilliant. If not, what are you waiting for?
Take care,
Carol
